Oviedo

Oviedo is located in eastern Seminole County and is approximately 16 square miles in size with a population of approximately 39,739. Originally known for their citrus and celery farms, Oviedo was incorporated as a city in 1925. While it has become a bustling modern community, Oviedo has maintained its relaxed, rustic charm.

This beautiful city is just 20 miles northeast of Orlando, making it an easy drive to all of the popular Central Florida attractions via HWY 417 and HWY 408. The main roadways in Oviedo include Broadway Street/CR 419, which runs East-West through the community, and Central Ave/SR434, which runs North-South through Oviedo. Furthermore, the city is only 8 miles from the Orlando Sanford International airport!

When it comes to education, Oviedo doesn’t disappoint. In fact, Oviedo offers a great school district with 4 elementary schools (Evans Elementary, Lawton Elementary, Marguerite Partin Elementary, and Douglas Stenstrom Elementary), 2 middles schools (Jackson Heights Middle School and Lawton Chiles Middle School), and 2 high schools (Oviedo High School and Hagerty High School).

Immerse yourself in beautiful nature in Oviedo which borders Lake Jessup, the Little Big Econ State Forest, and the Black Hammock Wilderness Area. There are countless dirt trails for hiking, walking and bike trails, and waterways for kayaking and canoeing. Visit the Butterfly Encounter at Lukas Nursery to see beautiful plants as well as feed butterflies. If you’re looking for adventure, you can enjoy airboat rides and pontoon boat tours at Black Hammock Adventures. Or you can visit Little Big Econ State Forest,  a popular spot for hiking with multiple trails that contain different ecosystems. While you are there, you can also go on horse and bike trails, or go camping and fishing! For some family fun, visit Pappy’s Patch U-Pick Strawberries where you can pick your own strawberries to bring home.

The area features over 400 townhomes and luxury apartments, restaurants, retail, and office spaces. For some indoor family fun, you can go to the Oviedo Mall. This family-friendly option not only offers shops but also a multi-screen movie theater, tons of food options, and a Play District which has escape rooms, boutique bowling, axe throwing, and arcade games.
